About TransCanada Phone Calls and Visits
TransCanada is becoming more, and more, aggressive about its desire to gain access to land. Persistent calls and "drop by" visits keep coming and demands for "answers" accompany them.
Landowners are beginning to refer TransCanada people to N.E.A.T. and its lawyers. David Domina suggests calls be handled this way:
When asked why the survey is sought, ask: "Do you have a permit to build the pipeline?" Unless the TransCanada caller is not truthful, the answer must be "no". The landowner should next say "Put me down as a "no". "Call back when you have a permit."
Once you are a Support of NEAT (just complete the form online), then you can also tell TransCanada "I am with NEAT, you can call my lawyers the Domina Law Group. Stop coming by and stop calling me."
Domina cautions landowners: Many different strategies could be going on with these calls. TransCanada may be looking for the route with the least resistence. Saying yes... even to a survey... may be very likely to increase prospects for putting the pipeline on the path where the most landowners say "yes".

Don’t Sign Anything with TransCanada
TransCanada has NO RIGHT to enter on your land to survey or do anything without your permission. And why would you let them?
N.E.A.T. is distributing a Support Commitment Form and asking landowners who may be on any portion of the various proposed pipeline routes to become a N.E.A.T. supporter.
The Support Commitment (click here to see form) is designed to determine how many potentially affected landowners are interested in working together to develop a Nebraska Easement for landowner that is a wish-list of all the terms and conditions that YOU would want to protect yourself and your neighbors from TransCanada.
How N.E.A.T. Can Help
N.E.A.T. has secured its legal team, Domina Law Group, that has decades of experience with property rights negotiations, easements and eminent domain issues, condemnation, and who has been involved with all issues related to TransCanada and landowners from day one. Our legal team will draft and fight for in negotiations against TransCanada easement terms that protect you! TransCanada beleives it can distract you with Price so that you don't pay attention to what is much more important - all the rights you are signing away and the risks you are assuming.
TERMS FIRST! Price only after you are comfortable with Terms.
Our legal team will determine other experts, such as engineers, ecologists, and pipeline safety experts who can help quantify known risks such as pipeline ruptures, and others if deemed necessary to advise N.E.A.T. on our wish-list Easement terms.
Important Note - If after we negotiate the very best terms we can you still do not feel comfortable signing with TransCanada - you don't have to. Joining N.E.A.T does not mean you must sign an Easement - you remain in full control of all your rights.
